Augmented Reality and Art

Augmented Reality and Art

Artists all over the world  experiment with interactions and crossovers between the physical and virtual worlds and challenge the limits of sensory perception in order to create new creative experiences. This can lead to art forms and interactions that have not seen before. For examples see our links to Augmented Reality (AR) artists page.

This also generates new artistic and scholarly questions such as:

  • What are the characteristics of virtual art?
  • Do we need special criteria to analyse and judge virtual art?
  • What is the relationship between authenticity and duplication in relation to 3D printing and 3D scanning?
  • How do people react to virtual perception?
  • How do people integrate their real world observations with the offered virtual objects or scenes?
  • How do people value interaction with the virtual world?
  • Which forms of non-visual  augmented reality exist?
